Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and First Lady, Zinash Tayachew, held a workout session on the green running track around Kigali Golf Resort & Villas. Abiy and his wife were in Rwanda for the 30th commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. Abiy's connection to Rwanda dates back to 1995 when he had a peacekeeping duty tour in the country. He is one of the several – current and former – heads of state and government who joined Rwandans in starting the 100-day commemoration period that started Sunday, April 7, at BK Arena. Earlier in the day, along with other leaders, he laid a wreath at the Kigali Genocide Memorial in memory of the more than one million victims of the genocide. The running track The 2.4-kilometre green running track, which was installed last year, has become a favourite spot for sports enthusiasts in Kigali. It has a soft artificial running surface made of synthetic rubber that is meant to ensure a safe and comfortable running environment for users. The objective of the running track, officials have said, is to enhance the overall sports experience around the golf club and foster a culture of physical activity in the capital.
