FIVE foreign taekwondo teams have confirmed they will take part in the 2018 edition of the annual Taekwondo Ambassador’s Cup – slated for October 6-8 in Kigali. Rwanda Taekwondo Federation president, Placide Bagabo, confirmed this to Times Sport yesterday. “So far five non-local clubs have confirmed their participation, and we expect many more as we draw closer to the registration deadline. This year’s event will be bigger, more competitive and more entertaining for the fans of the sport,” Bagabo said. He said that the registration deadline is October 1. Last year, Rwanda dominated the medal table of the three-day event. In club classification, Rwanda’s Dream Taekwondo, Club clinched the trophy and was followed by Team Uganda Taekwondo while IYF Taekwondo Club, another home side, finished third. Five confirmed teams: Tanzania Police taekwondo team, Sudan (National team), Kibabi University (Kenya), Kisumu Taekwondo team (Kenya) and DR Congo’s Aigle de Fer.
