A stunning spell of bowling by Orchidde Tuyisenge was the highlight of the men’s Division Two Unimoni Premier League game on Sunday in a game full of runs at IPRC-Kicukiro Ground between Kutchi Tigers and Sorwathe. The Kutchi won the toss and elected to bat first, piping Sorwathe by 333 runs. Tuyisenge, the destroyer, took 7 wickets off 16 runs in 6 overs before firing a century off 55 balls to win the Man of the Match award. Kishani Dabajiya contributed 68 runs off 72 balls and Rushil Kitole smashed quick-fire 67 runs off 67 balls, making it 372/10 in 46 overs to restrict Sorwathe to 39 runs. In another Division Two clash, youngster Jean Claude Dusengumuremyi snatched 5 wickets off 42 runs in 10 overs to become Man of the Match as Titans Cricket Club narrowly beat Vikings Cricket Club by 1 wicket in 50 overs at Gahanga Stadium. Vikings won the toss and elected to bat first but got restricted to 147/10 in 32 overs. Bosco Tuyizere chipped in 38 runs off 41 balls, Shantanu Kothar added 33/66 while Adelin Tuyizere managed 25/28. Titans’ pair of Dusengumurenyi and Jean Damascene Abizera contributed five wickets for 42 and a vital 4 wickets for 30 runs, respectively. In reply, Titans had to hold their nerve, eventually reaching a total of 150/9 in 34 overs. Dusengumurenyi held the key for the runs at the top order with 32 runs off 37 balls with the bat, veteran Emmanuel Byiringiro contributed 17 runs off 26 balls while Wilson Niyonkinzo recorded 16 runs off 36 balls. In the ladies Division One category played on Saturday at Gahanga, after defeating Indatwa CC in the opening match, Charity Cricket Club confirmed to be the favorites when they beat She-Guards CC by 6 wickets to register a second victory. The She-Guards won the toss and opted to bat first but got condemned to124/10 in 31 overs in the innings. Sarah Uwera proved to be at her peak form as she produced 64 runs off 85 balls to become Player the Match whilst Antoinette Uwimbabazi posted 20/25. In reply, Charity managed 126/3 in 15 overs. Uwimbabazi and Azela Gihozo took 2 and 1 wickets, respectively. In the ladies Division Two category, Queens of Victory Cricket Club took the strike to defeat Ndera by 106 runs. Liliane Niyonsaba took 4 wickets for 12 runs in 3 overs to finish as the best player while Clarisse Umutoniwase inflicted more damage when she took 2 wickets for 3 runs, in one over.
