THE 2018/19 Rwanda national football league will start in October instead of September according to the country’s football governing body Ferwafa president Brig Gen (rtd) Jean Damascène Sekamana. Sekamana said that the league will kick off in early October although the final date has not yet been confirmed and the wish is that the league ends in June next year. “The league will start in early October but we have not set the dates but we want it to end June next year. We didn’t want to delay like last season. We are planning accordingly and inserting all competitions in our calendar,” Sekamana said. APR romped to a record 17th league title last season. Meanwhile, Ferwafa held an Ordinary General Assembly on Saturday at Hôtel des Mille Collines in Kigali. Youvia WFC and Nyagatare FC were suspended for the next season based on article 89 of the Competition Regulations. The general assembly approved the President’s Activity Report of the last season and the activity from September to January. It approved the consolidated and revised balance-sheet and the profit and loss statement. The assembly also approved the annual financial statement and approved a six-month budget with its related planned action plan. The general assembly admitted Gasogi United FC as a new member of FERWAFA. The new Competitions Regulations will be approved by the Executive Committee of FERWAFA upon consultation with the General Assembly. The General Assembly approved the set-up of the Conflict Resolution Body which will be composed of the following members: President Jean Marie Munyankumburwa, vice President Abraham Ntahandi and Secretary, Ancilla Munyankaka. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
