Rayon Sports’ left-back Eric Rutanga has made it clear he would welcome offers from Kenyan champions Gor Mahia if they ever consider signing him. The Rwanda international provided an assist to forward Bonfils Caleb Bimenyimana for the opener before scoring the winning goal as Rayon Sports stunned Gor Mahia 2-1 in a CAF Confederation Cup Group “D” clash at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi on Sunday. His goal from a well-curled free-kick in the 53rd minute cancelled out Francis Mustafa’s equaliser on 21 minutes. Bimenyimana had opened the scoring in the 2nd minute. Rutanga, 25, also scored from a free-kick against Gor Mahia during the two sides’ first-leg encounter as they shared a 1-all draw at Kigali Stadium in May. “If they bring a good deal, why not? Gor Mahia are a good team with quality players, I really would like to play for them,” Rutanga was quoted by Kenyan media as saying. The former APR FC player still has one year left on his contract with the Blues. Gor are reportedly in search of Ugandan left-back Godfrey Walusimbi’s replacement after the veteran defender moved to South African giants Kaizer Chiefs. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
