Once they step in the compounds of a day care centre, children never want to leave the place. This is because a well organised day care centre is attractive to children of all ages. At a day care centre children do not only sleep or eat as some parents think. They have ample time to do a variety of educative things. All this depends on the children’s daily time table. There is time to play, learn and take naps. Besides this, children at a day care centre get full attention from their teachers. The children Times talked to Sophia Kivumbi Namanya, the head teacher of Little Bears Nursery and Primary school. Kivumbi said that the children’s care takers have to make sure that all children are attended to. They have to watch out and see that no child plays with anything sharp. Playing rough and fighting is not part of this small group of children. Instead, children are taught to be happy and peaceful with their friends. Since day care centres deal with very young children, the environment in the school is extremely clean. When asked how, a day is spent at the centre, the head teacher said that in the morning when children have just arrived, they are given a tasty break fast. After this, they get their lessons. They tought to count number, normally from 1-10. Kivumbi also said, that children are kept clean by removing dirtied pampers and bathing those who get dirty after playing. However, children are taken home at different intervals depending on whether parents work full day or half day. Ends
