Nigerian music star David is seeking legal action against Kenyan TV, K24, following a story on his alleged arrest at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) that the media outlet circulated on Monday, April 1. In a statement issued on Tuesday, April 2, the musician said that he did not appreciate the misleading story that claimed he was detained after cocaine was found on his private jet, published as part of the broadcaster's April Fools' Day editorial offering. The statement also indicated that the 31-year-old artiste is already in touch with his legal team which will be following the case on his behalf. Not my home Nigeria, my home America, or any of the hundreds of countries I've made home throughout my career.” I find the fabrication of allegations of such international crimes extremely irresponsible regardless of the light of 'April Fools', and my lawyer is seeking legal recourse against the media parties responsible for generating this misinformation, reads the statement. The statement also emphasized on the harm the story caused to Davido’s reputation that he built over years of hard work, saying that his business ventures have been negatively impacted by the false allegations. Davido was in Kenya last weekend to perform at a festival held at Uhuru Gardens.
