Azam Rwanda Premier League giants Rayon Sports have completed the signing of two new players Gerard Stephane Kouame Brou and Prosper Donkor Kuka to help bolster the squad in a bid to do better in Caf Confederation Cup match against Gor Mahia on August 19. Ghanaian midfielder Kuka, 20, signed from Accra Young Wise FC while Ivory Coast striker Kouame Brou joined the Blues from Togolese side Entente FC. Kouame Brou, 19, was signed to replace Ismaila Diarra who moved to Algeria’s first division outfit CA Bordj Bou Arréridj, while Donkor Kuka was brought in to fill the gap left by former skipper Pierrot Kwizera, who is in the process of landing a contract abroad. “They both signed on a two-year contract, and I hope they can bring experience to our relatively young side, which is playing at this level for the very first time,” an official from the club, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Times Sport on Thursday. Despite the uphill task to face, newly appointed captain Thierry Manzi remains positive. “We need to pick up maximum points from our next two matches, and move on to the next stage.” Rayon Sports will face Kenyan champions Gor Mahia in Nairobi on Sunday looking for their first victory in Group D of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup. Ahead of the much awaited game, Gor Mahia are in second position with eight points while Roberto Oliveira’s Rayon are third with 3 points. Any result, other than a win, will see the hosts book a ticket to the quarter-finals and Rayon Sports bowing out of the CAF competition. In another Group D fixture on Sunday, table leaders USM Algiers will be traveling to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania to play strugglers Young Africans. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
