Christophe Mudahinyuka, head coach of the national U20 women volleyball team, has named a 23-player provisional squad that start residential camp Sunday for intensive preparations at Amahoro Stadium ahead of the this year’s African U20 Nations Championship. The continental junior championship will be held in Kenya from August 24 to September 3. According to Mudahinyuka, the ladies will report to camp Sunday afternoon and start rigorous training Monday through August 23 when they will depart for Nairobi. “We have a lot to work on and improve, and we only have roughly ten days ahead of the competition. I have confidence in the group, they are talented and have the potential to beat any opponent,” Mudahinyuka told Saturday Sport on Friday. Meanwhile, the national U21 men’s team has also started preparations ahead of the 2018 African Junior Championships – scheduled for September 12-19 in Nigeria.
