Basketball: Rwanda U18 Girls face Egypt in African Champs opener

Today Group B Rwanda vs Egypt 15:45 Cape Verde vs Mozambique 18:00 The national U18 ladies basketball team will this afternoon take on Egypt in the opening match of the 15th edition of FIBA African U-18 Women’s Championships. The continental event is hosted at Pavilhao Maxaquene Stadium in Mapouto, Mozambique. Rwanda is making her first appearance at the biennial showpiece as FIBA Africa Zone V champions after winning this year’s title in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, in June Charles Mushumba’s team start their quest for first African Championships title against the 2010 champions and two-time silver medalists Egypt following the draws held on Thursday that pitted them in Group A along with Egypt, hosts Mozambique and Cape Verde. The four teams will play each other in a round robin format to determine the best two, who will automatically advance to semi-finals. Meanwhile, Group B that starts playing on Saturday is led by six-time winners and defending champions Mali, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda.
