Today Playoff finals, Game 3 Men REG Vs Patriots Women APR Vs IPRC- South contenders Rwanda Energy Group (REG) are optimistic for Game 3 victory when they take on holders Patriots at Amahoro stadium tonight as they seek to take the lead in the play-off finals series. The 2017 finalists tied the series to 1-1 last Friday after overcoming Henry Mwinuke’s Patriots 73-65 in Game 2, bouncing back from 58-63 loss in Game 1. Patriots won last year’s Playoffs title after overpowering REG 3-1 in the best-of-five finals. “I have faith in my players and the collective commitment we have as a team to win the title, one game at a time. We are well prepared and aware of our opponents, Game 3 is a must-win for us,” REG head coach Patrick Ngwijuruvugo told Times Sport on Wednesday. On the other hand, Game 3 equally means a lot to Patriots, who are playing the finals for a fourth consecutive season – and seeking to become the first team to retain the playoffs title since 2015. They lost the title to sleeping giants Espoir in 2015 before being stunned by IPRC- South in 2016. In women’s fray, APR will win the title today if they beat IPRC- South in Game 3. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
