Celebrated Rwandan media personality Anitha Pendo emerged victorious by bagging the prestigious title of 'African Female Radio Presenter of the Year' at the esteemed Ladies in Media Awards 2023, a ceremony that was held in Ghana on March 30. Expressing her gratitude on her social media accounts, Pendo humbly acknowledged the unexpected nature of her win, attributing it to divine timing and grace. I wasn't expecting this award to be honest, but God knew the right season and I trust his timing. I am grateful for his grace, mercy, and love. This is just the beginning, she said. Determined to share her success with Rwanda, she had initially pledged to uphold her nation's pride in the face of formidable competitors from Zimbabwe, South Africa, Ghana, and beyond. Speaking to the New Times, Pendo said she had waited for years to win the award and expressed excitement for achieving it. For young girls out there, they should excel in what they do because you never know who's watching or listening. I didn't know about LIMA, but they had representatives in every country. Whenever they want contestants from eight or 10 countries, they always send representatives to identify who's eligible. She added: This award isn't just for me alone. It's for all those in the media and entertainment industry who haven't received recognition yet. To them, I say, keep going, your moment will come. I dedicate this award to all of you as well. She acknowledged the impact of her work for almost 20 years and expressed aspirations to expand onto international platforms. Pendo, a household name in Rwandan media in entertainment, charms her audiences not only through her captivating morning radio shows but also as a versatile entertainer.
