It was only last year, when US-based Rwandan artiste Magaly Pearl burst onto the music scene, releasing two singles; Nyemerera and Hold me. The songs enjoyed moderate success and introduced her to the music scene both in the US and Rwanda. Now Pearl, born Magaly Ingabire, is on a quest for greater musical success and recognition. Her latest project, The One, is a collaboration with highly acclaimed Nigerian hip hop recording artiste and actor Ice Prince. The song was officially released on Thursday July 5, with a lyric video posted on YouTube. Magaly relocated to the U.S. in 2010, shortly after recording her first song at the then Hope Street Studio. Currently, she lives in Dallas, Texas, where she is an aesthetician and makeup artist. It is not the first time though that the fast rising singer will be dealing professionally with Nigerian artistes. One of her songs,Nyemerera was produced by Nigerian audio producer Demsa, while Hold me was produced by Nigerian music video director Patrick Elis. She has also shared the stage with Nigerian artistes like Tekno and Wizkid. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
