Rayon Sports are set to announce Brazilian Roberto Luiz Bianchi Pelliser as new coach, to replace Ivan Minneart who has been demoted to the junior team. Times Sport has learned. According to a reliable source, the Brazilian tactician will be landing at Kigali International Airport today for final talks with the reigning champions before putting pen to paper. Luiz Bianchi is a former coach of Angolan side Petro Athletico and the Angola national team. Following Sunday’s extraordinary general assembly, the club also decided to terminate Eric ‘Bakame’ Ndayishimiye’s contract, relieve him of his duties as team captain and release him with immediate effect, stating that “his services at the club are not needed anymore.” Among other allegations, the Rwanda international is accused of tarnishing the club’s reputation to media and fans as well as being the mastermind of a conspiracy that saw former head coach Minneart laid off along with his assistants; Jeannot Witakenge and Marcel Lomami. Rayon Sports, winless in their last four league games, sacked ‘now former’ team captain Bakame following his suspension last week for faking an injury to miss a league game against Musanze FC a fortnight ago, which ended in a goalless draw. Times Sport has also learnt that Belgian Minneart was to be sacked but Rayon Sports would have to pay him a staggering amount of USD 70,000 to terminate his contract, which rather prompted the club management to downgrade him to the role of academy coach. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
