They also aim to understand the different tastes and preferences people have in art, and grasp how the art scene works through events like exhibitions, while they also grow financially. The exhibition kicked off around 6pm when different people kept coming in big numbers excited about the creative artworks of two talented artists. Talking to The New Times, Mediatrice Uwamahoro, one of the artists said that she was shocked by how many people turned up. “ I am thrilled by how people loved our style because it is very different and we both made it unique. They were surprised by how well we did even though it is our first exhibition,” she said. Derrick Mugisha, who also showcased his artwork was highly congratulated by people who were in awe of his great artistic artworks. He said that he was impressed by how people loved his work and the support he got from his parents who came to support him at the ‘Smell of Success' exhibition. One of his artworks ‘ Empowerment of Women’ shows three women holding hands, while one of them is holding a baby in her arms. “This artwork shows the ability and skills that women have. Women are multi-talented . Women in the past were not allowed to do the same jobs as men or to have a say in society. A woman is capable and amazingly talented. Without a woman, we would not exist, because we are all born of a woman,” said Mugisha. Uwamahoro’s artwork ‘Hope of Life’ consists of two colors, where one is dark and the other light. This art piece teaches us that when people understand who they are and what they want, life becomes easier. “When you are confident , you will go around all those paths without getting discouraged and you will end up reaching your goal, where it appears in the art piece that it is closed. Once you understand yourself and are confident with your goals, you will not be beaten in the elbow but you will pursue them,” she said. The artists revealed that the exhibition’s goal was successfully accomplished after witnessing the encouragement and appreciation from the audiences’ feedback. The ‘Smell of Success’ exhibition will run until March 23, at L’espace in Kimihurura.
