Today, 3:30pm Sunrise Vs Police Amagaju Vs Gicumbi Etincelles Vs Kiyovu SC Kiyovu will be seeking to extend their winning streak to three games when they take on Etincelles this afternoon at Umuganda stadium in Rubavu in an Azam Rwanda Premier League fixture. SC Kiyovu will go into the game well aware that a defeat will shatter their hopes of winning their first league title in 25 years. While the hosts seeking to bounce back from Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Rayon Sports in Peace Cup, Andre Casa Mbungo’s side are fresh from thrashing AS Kigali and will be hoping to replicate that stellar performance today. Ahead of today’s tie, Kiyovu are third on the league table with 41 points, nine points ahead of seventh-placed Etincelles. A win for the latter will see them move into sixth place with 35 points. “We will do all we can to win the game. The title race is very tight right now; any slight mistake at this point would see us bowing out of the race,” the former AS Kigali and Police FC head coach Mbungo told Saturday Sport yesterday. However, his counterpart Emmanuel Ruremesha of Etincelles, has also warned Kiyovi will not get three points without a fight. “Winning this game won’t be easy for either team. But we can’t afford to lose at home anyhow.” Early on in the season in this fixture, Kiyovu beat Etincelles 3-0. Kiyovu emerged victorious three times in their recent encounters, while Etincelles claimed two wins. The relegation battle also continues this weekend as 13th-placed Amagaju host 15th-placed Gicumbi in Nyamagabe. In another awaited fixture, Sunrise will be up against Police. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
