The caller line identification (CLI) between MTN Rwanda and Rwandatel is now operational. For years, an MTN number could not be transferred to a Rwandatel mobile phone in what the operators describe as ‘technical difficulties’, stemming from the different natures of technologies used by both companies. However, progress has been made as a result of joint efforts between the two companies. Now Rwandatel customers have the opportunity of getting to know which MTN subscriber has called on their mobile handsets. MTN chief executive officer, Themba Khumalo says this move portrays an essential element of partnership and open communication—crucial for the success of businesses. “This is an important milestone that blends well into the spirit of co-existence and fair competition,” says Khumalo. “It comes to add value to products and services of both telecom companies and most importantly comes as an answer to a call from our esteemed clients.” Patrick Kariningufu, acting CEO of Rwandatel, said the good working environment between MTN and Rwandatel benefits the customers of both companies. “We are pleased that with effect from today, our clients will be able to view numbers of MTN subscribers that will have called them up---this means a lot in terms of building up the business portfolios of both companies.” Ends
