A day in a life of ....Peace Niyonsaba

I work at Nakumatt Supermarket as one of its tellers. My main duties are to register and issue our clients with Smart cards, sale cash power (electricity coupons) and offer customer care services to the clients. ‘I wake up at 6a.m with the help of my alarm clock. I switch on the radio to listen to BBC news, wash my face then have a shower’, says Peace Niyonsaba. After that, I wear my clothes not forgetting the make-up to look nice, then leave for work. I take a motor-cycle from home in Kiyovu to Nakumatt which costs me Rwf 300. By 7:30a.m I am already at the work place but I do not immediately start work. I normally spend some 30 to 45 minutes with my manager learning more about how best to serve, care and handle our clients. Then by 8a.m, I start work which involves registering and issuing clients with smart cards, sale cash power and giving the clients any necessary aid concerning the business. I also provide Credit notes to some clients who come to buy sodas and water yet have no empties. At 9:30a.m, I have breakfast which is provided by the company, then resume work. At 1p.m, I go for my lunch, also at the work place. It takes about 15 minutes and then I once again resume work. At 5p.m, I have evening tea then continue with work up to 9p.m when I sign out of work. On my way back home, I pass-by an Internet Café to check on my mails and send messages to my loved ones. I sometimes meet friends after work and have with them some good time. I make sure that by 10p.m I am home. Having worked the whole day, the first thing I do as soon as I reach home, I shower, have a rest then take a cup of tea prepared by my young sister. At about 10:30p.m, I again take tea with bread as my supper since most times I do not enjoy having meals at night. While listening to music, I iron my clothes which I am to wear the following day. By 11p.m, I kneel down and pray to the Almighty God and even offer Him appreciation for all the good things He has done for me and my family not forgetting to pray for the sick and then go to bed.
