Several houses around the site where thousands of Genocide victims are believed to have been dumped in mass graves during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, in Kabuga I Cell, Rusororo Sector, Gasabo District, have been demolished to pave way for an ongoing exhumation exercise, which will now proceed with the use of excavators. Remains of 209 victims have hitherto been recovered a fortnight after the exercise commenced and officials now say that as many as 5000 people could have been dumped in several mass graves at the site dubbed as CND’.
