RAYON Sports have been drawn in Group D alongside regional titans, Young Africans of Tanzania and Gor Mahia of Kenya. Algerian side USM Algiers is the fourth member of the pool. The Azam Rwanda Premier League champions Rayon was handed the three group opponents during a draw ceremony held at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Headquarters on Saturday afternoon in Cairo, Egypt. Ivan Minneart’s Rayon will start their group stage campaign on May 6, hosting Gor Mahia in Kigali before travelling to Tanzania to face Young Africans on May 16. The Blues will then play USM Algiers on July 18 in Kigali before heading to Algeria for the return-leg tie on July 29. The eight-time Rwandan champions will take on Gor Mahia on August 18 in Kenya before playing their final group encounter against Young Africans, on August 29 in Kigali. Should Rayon Sports make it to top two of the group, they will automatically progress to quarter-finals of Africa’s second biggest club competition and earn Rwf 303m (U$D 350,000) from the African football governing body.
