Renowned American actress, filmmaker, and TV producer, Ava Marie DuVernay, known for her work in cinema, disclosed her top three favorite places on the African continent. And Rwanda made the cut. Mali holds a special place for Ava due to her familial connection, as her brother-in-law hails from the West African nation. Senegal, on the other hand, holds sentimental value as it was the first African country she ever visited. Ava DuVernay's accolades in the entertainment industry include a Primetime Emmy Award, two NAACP Image Awards, a BAFTA Film Award, and a BAFTA TV Award. Additionally, she has been nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. The series, based on the infamous Central Park jogger case, examines the wrongful conviction of five Black and Latino male suspects and the impact on their lives and families.
