THE Rwanda volleyball fraternity will honour the victims of the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi with a volleyball tournament slated for June 9-10, according Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) executive secretary Christian Hatumimana. FRVB is one of the sports federations that consistently organise annual memorial tournaments since 1995. “Our aim is to continue to be united and spread love to all Rwandans through the sport of volleyball. We need to build strong relationships, which will help us to build a stronger nation,” Hatumimana said. Teams from Rwanda, Cameroun, Kenya, Uganda, Congo Brazzaville and Burundi, Tanzania and Congo Kinshasa are expected to take part in this year’s edition. FRVB lost over 50 members during the Genocide. Other federations expected to stage memorial tournaments this year include basketball, handball, cycling, football, Karate and taekwondo. editorial@newtimes.co. rw
