As Rwanda commemorates the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, local and international leaders yesterday posted messages condoling Rwandans as the country reflects on the 100 dark days that led to death of more than one million innocent people. Here are some of the messages: Today marks 24 years since the unspeakable tragedy, pain, and great loss our country experienced. Today, we honor the memory of those we lost to inhumanity, we strive to comfort the survivors and we renew our resolve to build the dignified future our nation deserves. -JK pic.twitter.com/SMHA6Tu7c9 — First Lady of Rwanda (@FirstLadyRwanda) April 7, 2018 ************************* Genocide started Thursday 7th April 1994 with the massacre of politicians and their families. I remember most particularly Frederic Nzamurambaho, Agriculture Minister and PSD President, assassinated with his wife Emilienne and his children Edmond, Armand and Bertrand. #Kwibuka24 pic.twitter.com/249npPnwNJ — Amb. The best way to honour the victims and survivors is to ensure it never happens again, anywhere. https://t.co/Kjrac1Antk pic.twitter.com/aEMMrcgI5g — António Guterres (@antonioguterres) April 6, 2018 ************************* En cette journée de commémoration, j’ai une pensée pour les victimes du Genocide Rwandais et pour leurs familles. We, the international community, have a responsibility to protect and remember. #Kwibuka24 #RememberUniteRenew — Ebba Kalondo (@EbbaKalondo) April 7, 2018
