April 6 Rayon Sports Vs Costa do Sol Mozambican side Costa do Sol arrived in Rwanda yesterday for their first leg of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup playoffs fixture against Rayon Sports slated for Friday at Kigali Stadium. The Mozambican champions had a light training session yesterday evening and are expected to train again today at Kigali Stadium. Rayon Sports dropped to CAF Confederation Cup last month after a 2-0 aggregate defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in the CAF Champions League first round. The winner of the two-legged tie between Ivan Minneart’s Rayon Sports and Mozambique’s most successful football club will advance to the group stage of the continent’s second biggest club competition. Should the 8-time Rwandan champions eliminate Club Desportivo Costa do Sol, it will be the first time a Rwandan club reaches the group stage of any CAF competition. Last season, Rayon Sports played the CAF Confederations Cup and only managed to reach this very stage – the playoffs – where they were eliminated by Nigerian side Rivers United. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
