Theogene Utabarutse was re-elected for a second term as president of the Rwanda Handball Federation (Ferwahand) on Saturday at Amahoro Stadium. Utabarutse was first elected as the federation president back in March 2014 and his new term will run until 2021. Utabarutse, standing unopposed, won with 26 votes. Other elected members were Beatha Tuyambaze, who pipped Mansuet Kagabo to the post of vice present. Tuyambaze garnered 13 votes against 11 for the incumbent. Jean Paul Ngarambe was returned as the federation secretary-general with 26 votes while Dieudonné Garuka is the new treasurer. Utabatutse pledged to continue developing Rwandan handball by focusing more on the youth. “Taking our sport to the next level is my main challenge and I will do all I can to raise the level of Rwanda handball but I will not accomplish this task alone, I need everyone’s support and advice to make this mission possible,” he told the gathering. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
