Rwanda Rugby Federation (RRF) will hold a General Assembly on January 21 at Amahoro National Stadium to discuss a series of key issues for the new season. According to the federation’s secretary general, Tharcisse Kamanda, “The meeting will focus on key issues that include activities as well as the financial report for 2017, and the action plan of 2018/2019.” “We shall discuss the national calendar at length, besides the election of a treasurer and two officials, who will be in charge of conflict resolution,” he disclosed. Kamanda pointed out that the fixtures and dates for the national league will be approved by the members during the assembly. The other aspect will involve overall countrywide programme for talent detection at the grassroots. The other contentious aspect that will be discussed is that of clubs that deliberately miss Rugby 7’s competition without valid reasons. Kamanda noted that the issue will be tabled to find measures that would be considered, effective next season. The Rwanda Rugby Federation executive committee comprises members representing all the nine local clubs namely: Gorillas, Rusizi, Thousand Hills, Tumba College Jaguar, University of Rwanda Grizzlies, Muhanga, Lion De Fer, Kigali Sharks and Remera Buffaloes, who are the league defending champions. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
