FRENCH-BASED media group SportFive officials are in the country to finalise the broadcasting rights of the 16th Africa youth championship due in Kigali from January 18-February 1, 2009. The CAN U-20 Organizing Committee (Cocan) media liaison officer Jean Butoyi told Times Sport yesterday that officials from SportFive are in Kigali visiting Amahoro and Nyamirambo stadiums with an aim of assessing where their communication facilities will be put to easy broadcasting of the two-week African championship. According to Butoyi, SportFive team is led by Nathalie Fargier-Poulain and is set to finalise on the local media accreditation, tackle on the advertisement and publicity of the championship, install their broadcasting facilities and check on effectiveness of the flood lights at Amahoro stadium as well as negotiate with Rwandatel on easing communication throughout the championship. SportFive is also set to go into an agreement with Orinfor on how best to telecast the games, though the local transmission of the competition is guaranteed. SportFive is planning to broadcast next year’s African Youth Championship world wide. Meanwhile, local radio stations will be allowed to air and produce live matches without paying a coin. Meanwhile, the Confederation of African Football launched the accreditation process for the African Youth Championship which will be held in Rwanda from January 18th to 1st February 2009. The whole accreditation process will be conducted online via www.cafonline.com.
