WESTERN PROVINCE KARONGI — Members of the Democratic Popular Union of Rwanda (UDPR) party in the Western Province have been advised to work hard to compete with other East African Community (EAC) citizens. Peurine Mukankusi, the UDPR national vice president, said this while closing a one-day training session for UDPR members at Home St. Jean in Karongi district at the weekend. Mukankusi, explained that hard work is the only viable way through which Rwandans can move on the same pace with their East African counterparts. “Making work a priority will help you cope with other East African members especially in the business sector. You should avoid redundancy if you don’t want to be left out,” she counselled. She challenged the government to sensitise citizens on a wide range of issues in the EAC. According to Mukankusi, the workshop also aimed at assessing the recently concluded parliamentary elections. “We wanted to explain to our party members in the Western Province the results of the recent parliamentary elections and thank them for their participation,” she said. In addition, she added, party members were trained on how they can stem gender based violence. Ends
