Cycling: Rwanda confirmed for Tropicale 2018

Rwanda National Cycling team (Team Rwanda) has been listed among the countries that have been confirmed to participate in the 2018 Tropicale Amissa Bongo race. According to an announcement from organizers in Gabon, Rwanda makes the complete list of the 15 cycling teams that will participate in the 13th edition scheduled to run from January 15 to 21. The set will consist of 3 teams from the UCI Continental Pro, 2 teams of the UCI Continental and 10 African National Teams. The team of Jean-Rene Bernaudeau, which is accustomed to the Tour de France will be present on the roads of Gabon under the colors of Direct Energie with the last two winners of the Tropicale, Adrien Petit in 2016 and Yohann Gène in 2017. Another French team Delko Marseille-Provence KTM will also be starting next year. German Bike Aid team accustomed to events in Africa completes the list of professional teams that will oppose the ten African national selections. Tunisia also makes the list though the team had not returned to the Tropicale Amissa Bongo since 2012, while the other is Mauritius, led by Michel Thèze, the first coach of Chris Froome at the UCI World Center. Last year, Rwanda was represented by six riders led by Bonaventure Uwizeyimana, who finished 6th in the General Classification. Others were; Jean Paul Rene Ukiniwabo (27th), Samuel Haruwizeye (33rd), Jeremie Karegeya (40th), Alex Nizeyimana (44th) and Eric Nduwayo (54th).
