Rwandan international Fred Musoni has signed a one-year contract extension with Finland first division volleyball side Liiga Riento, until May, 2018. Musoni signed for the Finish club at the end of 2014 from Rayon Sports. / Internet photo The 25-year-old, who made his international debut in 2012, stated that, “I wanted to stay with Liiga Riento and I am happy that I have been given a contract extension because this is a good club. I want to continue giving my best for the team.” Musoni signed for the Finish club at the end of 2014 from Rayon Sports. Musoni has been in the country since May and returned to his club on Wednesday. The Finish first division league season started last month. Former Kagarama and APR player is one of the players that progressed from U17, U20 and U23 levels before featuring for the senior national team. So far, Musoni has played about 66 games for the national team since 2012 in junior and senior categories. He was part of the national team that finished in sixth place at the Africa Nations Championships held in Egypt last month. Rwanda’s other professionals include; Christophe Mukunzi (Saudi Arabian side Al-Mouj), Lawrence Yakan Guma (Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler, Japan) and Adolphe Mutoni (Belgium second division side Gimme Waasland). Nelson Murangwa is still looking for a new club after leaving Liiga Riento while Placide Madison Sibomana has returned home from Qatar and is set to sign for local league side, Rwanda Energy Group (REG). editorial@newtimes.co.rw
