Kigali International Comedy festival ends today

Three days of comedy, delivered in three different languages; Kinyarwanda, English, and French: Rwanda’s first ever comedy festival served up the best in Kinyarwanda poems on the opening night, Thursday November 2. Organised by the Comedy Knights, the three day festival closes today and comedians from the East African region including Rwanda, and countries as diverse as Guinea, the US, and Japan are taking part. The opening night served up comedy performances at the Kigali Radisson Blu Hotel and at Mulindi Japan One Love Project in Kimihurura. It featured five Rwandan comedians and one Burundian, Divin, who all delivered exclusively Kinyarwanda poems. Arthur Nkusi, Babu Joe, Clapton, Joshua, and George represented Rwanda on the opening night. The following day, Friday November 3 was dedicated to strictly French poems at One Love. It featured comedians; Herve Kimenyi (Rwanda), Michael Sengazi (Rwanda-Burundi), Oumar Manet from Guinea, and Ronsia Kukielukila from the Democratic Republic of Congo. All shows kicked off at 6:00 pm and closed at 10:00 pm. However, organizers reserved the biggest line-up of comedians for the grand finale on Saturday November 4 at the Radisson Blu Hotel. Dubbed the “English Night”, the evening will feature performances from only foreign comedians from Kenya, Uganda, the U.S, and Japan. Kenya will be represented by three comedians; Emmanuel Kisiangani, Dr. Ofweneke, and Mammito, while Uganda will be represented by two comedians; Cotilda and Daniel Omara.
