SSFR employees get certificates in short term courses

Forty Employees of the Social Security Fund of Rwanda (SSFR) received certificates after undergoing a 20-day training in executive education and other short term training programmes at the School of Finance and Banking (SFB). Under this newly introduced programme, employees are trained in two different modules that included strategic planning and Human Resource Management, policy development and procedures. According to Innocent Rurangwa, the director of Human Resources and administration in SSFR, the objective of this training to their employees is to build their capacity. “As you know there is no institution that can develop without developing its employees, our aim is to build the capacity of the employees so they can be able to offer better services to the Rwandan community,” Rurangwa said after the awarding of certificates on Friday. He added that the training was a milestone in developing the employees themselves and the institution at large. The Rector of SFB, Krishna Govender, hailed SSFR for their zeal in wanting to increase the competence of their employees by enrolling them on such short courses. He also encouraged the trainees to continue participating in those courses saying that they are vital in the development of their careers. “Short courses like these are an opportunity to enhance your learning and this is an easy way to continuous professional development in a short time. We cannot allow you all to go back to school and do full time courses because it would mean closing up the organization, so we opt for such courses and the organization expects you to go back and work better,” said Govender. Speaking to The New Times, Jane Murungi one of the beneficiaries of the training expressed gratitude for having attended the course. “We are so happy for having got this essential training, it is going to help us so much most especially in drafting policies and the steps that must be followed in drafting them,” she said. “This training has equipped us with enough knowledge on strategising and planning for our organization and knowing what we want to do and doing it on time,” said Derrick Kayombya Majyambere, another SSFR employee who trained in strategic planning.
