In the 10th minute, Rayon skipper Kevin Muhire played a through ball to Hakim Bugingo inside Vision's box, but the left back failed to find Charles Bbaale who was alone in the penalty box. Four minutes later, Bbaale missed a big chance when he found himself with a ball in front of Vision goalkeeper, Regis Shyaka, but his shot was blocked by a defender, resulting in a corner kick. In the 34th minute, Bugingo, who was outstanding throughout the afternoon, fired a long-range shot from 25 meters, but Shyaka punched it in the corner to the relief of home supporters. Vision, who had a quiet afternoon, also made an attacking exploit that could have resulted in a goal when left back Yunussu Ishimwe made a cross which almost went into Rayon's net after goalkeeper Khadime Ndiaye made a poor timing. The first half ended with both sides failing to find the back of the net. Rayon Sports quickly turned things around and opened the scoring just three minutes into the second half through Arsene Tuyisenge. The visitors took advantage of Vision goalkeeper Shyaka’s howler when he mistakenly passed the ball to Charles Bbaale; the Ugandan striker passed the ball to Arsene Tuyisenge who easily sent the ball into the back of the net to put the 'Blues' ahead. Bugingo doubled the lead for Rayon Sports in the 60th minute. The midfielder scored from a free kick which was awarded after Kevin Muhire was brought down near Vision’s penalty box on a counterattack. Substitute Youssef Rharb thought he had given the Blues the third goal in the 90th minute but his free kick went wide. The second leg will take place at Kigali Pele Stadium on February 21.
