Following the constant network failures in the channels provided by Star Africa, a Chinese digital television service provider based in Kigali, the company has spoken out on the inconsistency. While admitting that there have been some problems, the company’s marketing and sales director, Leo Hao, said that their technicians are ready 24 hours to fix any problem that arises. He blamed the technical deficiencies on geographical terrain of the country because Rwanda is almost hilly and wireless connectivity sometimes faces network failure. He advised their clients to have good positioning of their sets to have good reception, or have outdoor antenna which connects directly to mount Jali server. People should understand that we are the first to have transmission system based at Jali Mountain,” he said. The company which was launched in August this year has been under criticism by some subscribers some complaining about the network while others decry the channels provided. “I am not convinced of their services yet, mainly in their unstable network which is on and off, and their insufficient channels, no music, no sports, not dynamic movies… what can attract me really as a young man who is on holiday?” Steven Kagisha lamented. However, Hao assured their subscribers whom he said have grown up to 5,000 since they began their operations saying that everything would be fixed soon. ”We are still establishing ourselves and we need time to cover the whole country, clients should bear with us and try to understand that we are trying to fix everything and we have the number to call our technicians to come and fix the problem,” Hao said. The company, whose launch was presided over by President Paul Kagame, intends to establish itself in Rwanda from where it intends to spread to the region and subsequently the entire continent. Ends
