Dear Editor, I would like to thank the government for setting up English language centres to facilitate majority of us who need to learn English. Ever since government announced that English will be the language of instruction in schools, many of us have been looking for credible schools to learn the language from. The few that have mushroomed do not measure up. The proprietors of these schools had taken advantage of the demand by opening these substandard teaching centres—which do not have good teachers and facilities to aid learners. Once again I would like to thank government and its partners such as the East African Language Learning Centre for this initiative that will help quicken the process of integrating English into the society.
