RURA rewards motorcyclist for returning injured passenger's cash

Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority (RURA) on Monday rewarded a taxi-moto operator who recently went out of his way to secure an injured passenger’s parcel that contained Rwf5.2 million. The regulator gave a brand new motorcycle, worth Rwf1.8 million, to Donat Ndayiramiye for saving a passenger’s money after being involved in a road accident. Genesis On Sunday, July 23, Augustine Kayinamura boarded Ndayiramiye’s commercial motorcycle in downtown Kigali heading to Nyabugogo. Unfortunately, along the way, the motorcycle was involved in an accident when it was hit by a bus. The accident left Kayinamura unconscious, and Ndayiramiye immediately secured the envelope that the passenger had. Later, he noticed there was large sums of cash in the envelope. Ndayiramiye said he made the decision after a crowd gathered at the scene of the accident. Donat Ndayiramiye, smiles after receiving keys to his new motorbike at RURA headquarters. He decided to take the money to the Police as the passenger was taken to hospital. The police later passed the money on to Kayinamura’s family.
