Rwanda international Hakim Sahabo has been named Standard Liège player of the month for January 2024. The youngster beat the likes of Marlon Fossey, William Balikwisha, Bodart Arnaud and Moussa Djenepo to the prestigious accolade which is handed over to the most outstanding player of the club every month. Liège head coach Ivan Leko introduced Sahabo to the senior team in January after he was impressed by the teenager’s performance during the mid-season training camp in Malaga, Spain. Sahabo has since played four games for the club, including one friendly game against Borussia Dortmund and three Jupiler Pro League games. Though Standard Liege failed to win any of the games, Sahabo was an exceptional winning man of the match against Kortrijk and putting in decent performances against Dortmund, Cercle Brugge and Royal Antwerp.
