Rwanda Volleyball Federation (FRVB) needs Rwf80m to host the CAVB Zone 5 Championships for Men, which is scheduled for July 21-27 at Amahoro Indoor Stadium. Leandre Karekezi FRVB president Leandre Karekezi disclosed that three teams will participate. They are Kenya, Uganda and hosts Rwanda. But they’re still waiting confirmation by Sudan, Burundi, Djibouti, Somali, Tanzania and Eritrea. The Ministry of Sports and Culture, the event’s main sponsors, have given the federation Rwf40m to start preparations. “We are looking for more sponsors to come on board. “Our main sponsor, the Ministry of Sports and Culture, have helped us a lot, so we expect everything to be fine,” added the former national team player. The teams start to arrive in Kigali on July 19, while the tournament’s technical meeting will be held on July 21. Head coach Paul Bitok has admitted that Uganda and Kenya pose a big threat to Rwanda’s chances of qualifying for the World Championships.
