Editor, RE: “To develop Rwandan football, we must make the right investments” (The New Times, June 29). The elephant in the room: training pitches. Speaking of Kigali, the population has more than quadrupled since 1994 but the number of pitches has gone down. Development, driving schools, churches have steadily taken up even the few pitches that were available. Real estate developers take up swathes of land and cut up hundreds of plots without a single pitch for the eventual residents. Why didn’t we insist on a ratio of pitches/playgrounds to plots? Ed
