Police in Remera have arrested a self styled pastor and his driver for allegedly conning one Peter Ndahimana of Rwf 1.5million. “Pastor” Jean de Dieu Ndacyayisenga and Etienne Habaguhirwa were nabbed for using a stolen car to get the money from Ndahimana at the promise of refunding it within three weeks at an interest. Ndahimana alleges that Ndacyayisenga got the money to clear goods that were being held by Rwanda Revenue Authority on 1st November 2008 and promised to pay back on 24th. “I did not refuse because I had seen documents of ownership of the car and I trusted him as a friend,” Ndahimana said in a statement to` the police. A source from the police post speaking on condition of anonymity said that the duo used false documents to acquire a stolen car which was to later help them get money from the victim. The source explained that, Ndacyayisenga borrowed 1.5million from Ndahimana and gave “his” car as security saying he would reclaim it later after paying back the money “The car, registration number RAA 565D is being claimed by two people but none of them can produce valid documents showing the ownership of the car,” the source said. It added, “We are waiting to receive clarifications and then proceed with the case but meanwhile the public should be aware of such people and watch out” Ends
