Rwanda’s senior national volleyball team starts training on Sunday at Amahoro Indoor Stadium in preparation for the Zone 5 World Championship Qualifiers slated for June 15-18. The four-day event will be staged in Kigali.
The provisional squad, under Kirehe VC head coach Fidele Nyirimana and Elie Mutabazi, has been split in three teams; A, B and C.
The three teams will be coached by Viateur Kibuye (A), Eric Gakwaya (B) and Dominique Ntagwangundi (C).
The teams will go against other on a round robin system to help the coaches select the final team that will start official training camp.
Mutabazi and Nyirimana will act as interim coaches until head coach Paul Bitok joins them after the ongoing Africa of Nations Beach Volleyball Championships in Maputo, Mozambique.
Team A: Christophe Mukunzi, William Mudahemuka, John Nkurunziza, Prince Kanamugire, Yves Mutabazi, Barack Rugira, Thierry Mugabo, Cedrick Ngaboyintwali and Peter Bigirimana
Team B: Fred Musoni, Fabrice Nkezabahizi, Guillaume Irakarama, Olivier Ntagengwa, Fils Habanzintwali, Jean Paul Sibomana, Etienne Ntirushwa, Emile ‘Dada’ Karera, and Jacob Rene Cyusa
Team C: Pracide Madison Sibomana, Robert Nshimiyimana, Samuel Tyson Niyogisubizo, Aimable Mutuyimana, Fred Muvunyi, Sylveste Ndayisaba, Helve Kagimbura, Bosco Mbonyijuru Mutabazi and Peace Muvara.
Players expected to join the team later include; Patrick Kavalo Akumuntu, Flavier Ndamukunda, Nelson Murangwa, Lawrence Yakan Guma, and Ivan Mahoro Nsabimana.
