The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has sacked coach Chris Hughton and dissolved the entire technical team following the country's early exit from the ongoing 2023 AFCON in Côte d'Ivoire. The Black Stars failed to win a single game in the group stages, losing 2-1 to Cape Verde, before drawing 2-2 with Egypt and Mozambique. The Ghana Football Association after an emergency meeting have now come out that they have dismissed the former Tottenham, Newcastle and Brighton manager. The GFA wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior national team with immediate effect, reads a statement released by the Ghana Football Association on Tuesday, January 23. The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars. The Ghana FA said it lay down procedures for the team to be on its feet again. In the coming days, we will provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars,it added. Ghana returns to international football business on June 3 when they visit Mali in Bamako for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
