Rwanda men and women beach volleyball teams are in Uganda for this year’s Zone Five Seniors Beach Volleyball Championships scheduled for April 14-16 at Lido Beach in Entebbe. The three-day event, that has attracted seven countries including; Rwanda, Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Burundi, Kenya and hosts Uganda, also doubles as qualifiers for the 2017 Africa Nations Cup. The men’s team comprises Flavier Ndamukunda and his young brother, Patrick Akumuntu Kavalo, while in the women category, Rwanda will be represented by Charlotte Nzayisenga and Denyse Mutatsimpundu. Both sets of players have been training in Nyamata, Bugesera District in preparation for the regional competition which starts on Friday. “Uganda has been working hard to host the best Seniors Zone Five Qualification round to the Africa Nations Cup, at Lido Beach. We have been working through the rounds to ensure we are able to host and also present a suitable team for either gender,” Mofaht Masaba, the chairman of Beach Volleyball Council in Uganda Volleyball Federation, said in a statement. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
