Sunday Nyakabanda 41-20 UR-CASSAPR 65-26 UR-CASS APR defeated University of Rwanda’s College of Arts and Social Sciences (UR-CASS) to dethrone their arch-rivals Police by one point at the top of the table as the battle for the handball league title hots up. Anaclet Bagirishya’s APR took advantage of Police’s rest this weekend to climb on top after winning 65-26 in a game played on Sunday at Kimisagara Youth Sports Center. Former Police Handball Club player Jean Paul Muhawenayo netted a game high 20 goals to lead APR to 28 points in 10 games with a difference of 254 goals while Police, who have one game in hand, are a point behind and goal difference of 212. “Now that we are on top, hopefully we can stay there until the end,” said APR head coach Bagirishya Meanwhile, in the game played on Sunday, Nyakabanda defeated UR-CASS 41-20, with Celestin Hakizimana scoring 9 goals to guide his side to victory. The Victory moved Nyakabanda to the third place with 20 points, while UR-CASS, after the two defeats at the weekend, slipped to ninth place in the ten-team league table, with eight points. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
