Dear Editor,It is quite amazing that all branches of Bank Populaire, including the headquarters, still issue booklets to clients as a means of keeping deposit or withdraw records. These are perhaps Microfinance institution ways and not how competitive commercial banks should be run. By now Bank Populaire should have started issuing withdrawal slips or cheque books to clients such that they match the commercial bank standards. Secondly, a nationwide women entrepreneurs roundtable that brought together all women in business to discuss challenges, and find solutions also complained that Bank Populaire is biased. The women said the bank mainly favours men when it comes to giving business loans. This was indeed shocking and unfortunate news because the bank is known as a “citizens” bank. Are women not citizens too? Last but not least, the bank ought to hire a more professional media firm to manage its good brand. So far, I have seen three different types of “greens” all depicting Bank Populaire. The dark green at the “Kinamba” branch is different from the green I have seen on other billboards. Bank Populaire should make a lot of changes to retain its brand name as the people’s own bank. Concerned customerGIKONDO
