TOP drivers from Kenya and Uganda are determined to gate crash next month’s Mille Collines rally, the last event on the national rally championship. According to the rally website, over twenty foreign drivers from Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and Belgium are ready to push their wheels in the three-day race that runs from December 5-7. Alfir Khan and Azar Anwar who finished 6th and 10th in the 2008 African Rally Championship will lead Kenya’s charge in the 400km event that will be jointly held in the Eastern and Northern Province. From Uganda, renowned rally ace Riyaz Kurji will lead a pack of aggressive competitors in Mangat Jas, Sandhu Manray and Bob Roberts among others. Mille Collines, with a coefficient of four is the second biggest event on the championship after the Mountain Gorilla rally. Although the national championship title has already been claimed by Davite Giancarlo, local drivers will not take their feet off the pedal as they plot to make an impression before the visiting counterparts. The local contingent will comprise of new national champion Giancarlo, Olivier Costa, Tony Saegerman, Elephter Mitraros, Johnny Murengezi, Fitidis Christakis and Claude Kwizera. Ends
