Rayon suspends striker for three months without pay Tanzania’s Vodacom Premier League side, Simba have reportedly made contacts with Rayon Sport’s head coach Raoul Shungu with a view to take him across the boarders. The Tanzanian giants’ officials were in Kigali over the weekend to talk to Shungu to find out whether he could swap the favorable Kigali weather for the scorching suns of Dar es Salaam. “I had an extensive chat with Simba officials over a deal to coach their team but it was a non-starter because I still have a one more year remaining on my contract with Rayon Sport. “A move to Simba is good for me but it can only materialize when my contract (with Rayon) runs out at the end of the season,” acknowledged the Congolese born coach. The move by the Tanzanian side to search for a new coach comes after the club’s poor form this season. Current coach Krasmir Bezinski, a Bulgarian has already lost four out of nine games so far and he faces tough times ahead. As a result, Simba have already sacked Bezinski’s assistant Jamhuri Kihwelo and indefinitely suspended striker Musa Hassan as well as second assistant captain Henry Joseph for alleged sabotage. Goalkeeper’s coach Idd Pazi, custodian Amani Simba and Kenyan import Edwin Mukenya have also been shown the exit door. Shungu, in his third spell at Rayon sport was dismissed as coach of the Seychelles before taking over at the 1998 Cecafa club champions. On top of being Rayon’s head coach, Shungu is also the Amavubi Stars assistant coach to Branko Tucak. But with financial constraints at Rayon, Shungu could walk out on them for greener pastures at the end of the current campaign. Meanwhile, Rayon Sports have suspended strike Alex Mubiru for three months without pay. The new signing was suspended last week without Shungu’s knowledge for allegedly spending more time in bars, and flirting with women than on the training ground. The decision was reached by a three-man executive committee panel headed by Patrick Itagishaka. The $6,000 rated striker was also sacked by Ugandan side Express Fc on similar allegations. Ends
