Defending champions Rayon Sports thrashed Interforce 4-0 in the first leg of the Peace Cup quarterfinals at Kigali Pele Stadium on Tuesday, January 16. It was a game dominated by Rayon from the start to the end, as Interforce failed to match the quality and experience of Rayon’s players. ALSO READ: Peace Cup: Rayon out to overpower underdogs Interforce in quarter finals It took the Blues just three minutes to open the scoring as Moroccan forward Rharb Youssef was set up by Heritier Luvumbu to net the first goal. After conceding, Interforce players tried to stay in their own half to defend harder. The first half ended 1-0, but after the break, Luvumbu increased Rayon’s lead in the 54th minute with a superb free kick to make it 2-0. Substitute Emmanuel Mvuyekure came from the bench to net a brace in the 88th and 90th minute as the Blues completed the rout. The return leg is slated for January 24 with Rayon having a big advantage.
