Beer and meat lovers are in for a treat this weekend as the first Mutzig Lite barbecue event unfolds in Kigali. The event will take place on Saturday February 25 at the Nyarutarama Golf Club. Mutzig Lite is the newest addition to local brewer Bralirwa’s beer stable, and was introduced on the market at last year’s Mutzig Beer Fest at the Rugende Training Ground in August. Low on alcohol content, the beer is a lighter alternative to the regular Mutzig beer, also brewed by Bralirwa. The Mutzig Lite barbecue events are part of the brewer’s social media activation campaign, launched early this year. To qualify for the barbecue, one had to record a short video stating what makes a great barbecue party, and post it on Bralirwa’s social media handles. “A barbecue must have good friends, good weather, very good meat, and a Mutzig Lite,” posted one of the contestants in a nine second video clip posted on Mutzig Rwanda’s Facebook page. Successful candidates were contacted through messages in their inbox. On Monday, February 6, the first winner, Redempta Bisangwa was announced via social media. All winners automatically qualify for the barbecue, together with 10 of their friends. However, Bisangwa, though excited, had other ideas! Shortly after the announcement of her win on Facebook, she chipped in with a comment; “Lovely, lovely! But I would like to request for something; the number of friends I have is overwhelming. Could you please give me an extension to invite 20 friends? And as you all know, the more the merrier! Looking forward to a positive response on this. Signed, the first winner.” Gates open at 3pm. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
