P. Kabeera Oasis Cricket Club captain Babyish Ishimwe will be seeking to steer her team to their first victory in the ongoing V.R NAIDU Women T20 tournament. The former She-Guards CC player will lead the newly created club against defending champions White Clouds cricket club on Saturday at Kicukiro cricket ground. “White Clouds is one of the strongest cricket clubs in the country, with a high pedigree having dominated Rwandan women cricket for the last four years but records are there to be broken,” Ishimwe said on Friday. She noted that, “We’re a new team and this is going to be our first match but we can take heart from RCA-Developing Team, they defeated some of the big teams last season, and went on to be voted as the most promising team in the year in the men’s category.” Ishimwe is one of the most experienced players in the Oasis Cricket Club squad of 16 players—she has been playing cricket for the last 4 years. The Oasis CC vs White Clouds match will be followed by the clash between Queens of Victory and Indatwa CC, another tournament debutant. Meanwhile, the men’s tournament will resume on Sunday when defending champions Challengers CC lock horns with RCA-Development, while Kigali Cricket Club will be up against Vikings CC. editorial@newtimes.co.rw
